them that i love...

that phone call was probably the biggest surprise for the day yesterday. and the best, too. (not that i had many, but it mattered a lot to me). when my phone rang it was an unregistered number. after picking it up and pressing the call button, it was also an unknown voice. only to find out he was one of the students i visited in pangantucan.

funny thing was he was in a signal area in pangantucan, those places where you have to stay in a particular spot to get a signal. the reason why he called: to tell me that he was going to go back to school. he didn't go to college after his high school graduation. when i talked to him, he said he didn't feel like it. since he felt that way, i just told him that when he starts feeling like it and when their family has enough money to send him to school, he should go especially since he was a smart kid. well, he finally went back to school! and he called me because he knew i would have wanted to hear that news. edilmar also told me that he missed me. it was so sweet of him. :)

that phone call, and other phone calls like it continue to make me realize that choosing JVP was the best choice i have ever made in my life. to know that somehow you have a touched a life or even lives... to know that you have made a mark and inspired others to believe that there is something more in them than what they think they have... it makes all the tears and pain of choosing JVP all worth it. ALL WORTH IT.

definitely one of my most favorite films ever. my eyes were hot from crying the whole movie. and it was not really sad. there were some parts that were. it was just so beautiful... so true... so full of love. one comes to understand that it is never how smart or how rich a person is that makes him capable of loving. rather, it is how big and how open the heart is. the story just touched my core. yes, "all i need is love," said lucy. and for some it was so hard to see it can be that simple. thankfully, some people have better eyes than others.

anyone who has, had, will be, wants to be, dreams to be a parent should see this film.

i cooked sinugbang isda at pork chop for my landlady and partner. my partner surprised me with a cake and three red chippys, my students gave me a bouquet of fresh picked roses, and two other volunteers arrived from cabanglasan.
actually, it was a fourday celebration for me. my birthday was a sunday. my honors class prepared a program form me. saturday, my advisory class brought me to a lake. sunday was for the above. monday, the rest of my advisory class prepared another program for me.
i love my pangantucan birthday.
